Self-propelled compost turner for a dairy farm in Peru

The customer operates a dairy farm with a substantial vegetable trimming stream from nearby market gardens. Cow manure alone would have composted well, but the vegetable waste is wet, dense and quick to turn anaerobic, and a conventional front-end loader could not mix the two materials thoroughly enough to keep the pile aerobic.

We supplied a self-propelled windrow compost turner with heavy-duty turning teeth. The specification concentrated on two things: the teeth had to be robust enough to break up caking and chop the larger vegetable trimmings rather than ride over them, and the machine had to be operable by one person, diesel driven and simple to maintain in a remote location.

The result is a pile that is turned evenly from base to top, with the vegetable waste broken down and mixed through the manure rather than sitting in wet pockets. The customer reports a consistent fermentation, a shorter cycle and a compost that is uniform enough to sell on to local growers — and the machine is operated by a single driver, which was the decisive factor in choosing it.

6–10 t/h vermicompost fertilizer line in India

In November 2018 we delivered a complete 6–10 t/h vermicompost fertilizer line to a customer in India. Vermicompost behaves differently from manure compost: it is fine, dark, low in fibre and comparatively light, and it screens and granulates differently from cattle manure compost. The line was therefore specified around the material rather than around a standard configuration.

The equipment included a forklift feeder to hold material temporarily and guarantee a continuous supply to the line — the single most important machine for keeping a fertilizer plant running — a new-type vertical crusher to break caking in the vermicompost down to small particles, a compost screening machine to remove impurities and separate the oversize and undersize fractions, a horizontal mixer to blend the vermicompost with additives evenly, a straw crusher to reduce straw to small particles for use as a bulking agent, and belt conveyors connecting the whole sequence.

The project illustrates a point we make to every customer: the machine list follows from the material, not from the tonnage. Vermicompost needed a finer crush and a gentler granulation approach than cattle manure; the customer's market needed a blended product rather than pure vermicompost; and the feeding and conveying arrangement, not the processing machines, is what allows a line of this size to run continuously.

What these projects have in common

  • The feeding and conveying arrangement was designed as part of the plant, because that is what determines whether a line runs continuously.
  • The machines were specified for local operating conditions: a remote site for the Peruvian turner, a blended product for the Indian market.
  • Commissioning was carried out on the customer's own material, which is the only way to prove a fertilizer line actually produces the specified product.
  • Spare parts and wear items were identified at the order stage so that the customer could stock locally and avoid long stoppages.

A self-propelled windrow compost turner was exported to Peru in Jan, 14th. It was used to compost cow manure from dairy farm and vegetable trashes. Because of its sturdy turning teeth, it can evenly turn the materials and crush caking or larger vegetable trashes into small pieces. In addition, it is easy-to-operate and diesel-driven. Therefore, you just need to designate one person to operate it, and it has higher working efficiency.

In November, 2018, 6-10 t/h earth worm compost production line from Shunxin was exported to India. The specific fertilizer making machines include forklift feeder (for temporarily store fertilizer and guarantee continuous material supply ), new type vertical crusher (crush caking in vermicompost to small particles), compost screen machine (select out impurities and smaller or larger things, to make

sure uniformity), horizontal mixer (mix vermicompost with other additives evenly), straw crusher (crush straws into small particles, and then use them as bulking agent) and belt conveyor.

Do you supply single machines as well as complete lines?

Yes. The Peruvian project is a single compost turner, specified for a specific and difficult material mix. Many customers start with one machine — usually a separator or a turner — and expand into a full line later. Supplying the single machine with the same care as a complete plant is what leads to the second order.

Can you visit an existing plant in my country?

We can usually arrange a visit or a video call with a customer in your region or a neighbouring country, subject to their agreement. Where no installation exists locally, we provide video of machines running in our factory or at plants in China, and our engineers can walk you through the operating parameters on a call.
